Too Late Colleen Hoover Summary

“Too Late” is a novel written by famous American author “Colleen Hoover” and it was originally published on 19 November 2016. The story of book revolves around a character named Sloan, a woman who lives with her violent and abusive boyfriend named Asa Jackson, a drug smuggler. She is in a relationship and living with him for 2 years despite his abusive nature towards her.

Sloan has one brother named Stephen, who is suffering from various diseases like neurodivergent and Autism. Stephen does not live with his mother because his mother is a drug addict, and her sister Sloan believes it’s better for his brother to live in care home instead of their drug addict mother’s home.

The only reason Sloan living with her abusive boyfriend is because of Stephen, as Asa helps her financially in her brother’s care and treatment. One day, she escapes from Asa but as he stopped helping her brother, she came back to him for his brother.  She doesn’t want to be with Asa but still living with him because she loves her brother and can do anything to save his life.

The story now features new character named Carter; a guy who is an undercover agent comes in Sloan’s life to bust her boyfriend’s drug smuggling business. Carter has one partner named Dalto whose real name is Ryan, and they are in their life just to bust Asa Jackson’s drug smuggling business. Carter comes in Sloan life as a hope of a better life, his care and love attracts Sloan towards him, and Carter also falls for her but his partner Dalto cautious him and aware him about their mission.

One day, Carter negligently brings Sloan for Lunch, Asa tracks their location and learn everything about their secret meetup. When Sloan comes back to Asa, she pretends that nothing has happened, but Asa paranoia was growing day after day, and he starts taking drugs, heroin.

One day, when Asa was high, he proposes Sloan and forced her to accept his proposal immediately, after which they had sex that night without any protection. Carter and Sloan begin spending time with Stephen, Stephen bond grows stronger with Carter even though has hasn’t shown any interest in him. When Carter and Sloan were spending time with Stephen, Asa saw his father at Casino and figure out that his father has been release from prison a year ago. Asa assaults his father and kills him ruthlessly. He started taking heavy doses of drugs.

As the story progresses, we learn that Sloan figure out the real identity of Carter and ask him to help her in escaping from Asa. Carter promises her that if she helps in their mission to bust Asa’s drug business, he will help her to escape from Asa. Furthermore, Sloan realized that she has missed her period, and she is pregnant, but she doesn’t know who is the father of her baby. Asa pregnant her because he knows that her pregnancy is the only way in which Sloan won’t leave him.

When Carter learns about Sloan pregnancy, he does not mind because he just love Sloan and don’t want to do any DNA test of her as it does not matters to him at all. He will love child anyway. In the end, he never did any DNA test of Sloan and lives happily with Sloan and her child.
