The Bangle Sellers is an interesting poem written by Famous Indian woman author, Sarojini Naidu. The poem was originally published in the collection of The Bird of Time in 1912. This is 22 lines poem which is divided into four sestets. The theme of Bangle Sellers poem is Stages of women life.

The poem speaker says that we are bangle sellers who are taking our loads to the temple fair. Who are gonna buy these beautiful, soft and shining bangles. The bangle sellers has different variety of bangles and all these bangle are bright and delicate.
These bangles are token of happy life for a women. The bangles are for those happy daughter and wives who gets happy as soon as they wear it in their hands. In the first stanza of poem author tells us about bangles, how beautiful, soft and lavish these bangles are. The bangle seller happiness lies in his beautiful bangle which makes woman’s life happier.
In the second stanza of poem, poet has discuss about the different stages of woman’s life. The poet says some bangles are made for unmarried women and these bangles are made up of silver and blue color like mountain mist.
Some bangles are like buds which dream. Some bangles shine like they are blooming like a new leaf. The second stanza of poem tells us about the choices of maiden’s about bangles. Every unmarried women has lots of dreams, enthusiasm and spark which also reflects in their bangles.
Some bangles are look like fields of sunlit corn and these bangles are made for new married woman who wears this in first day of their marriage. Some bangles are made up like flame of marriage fire. Some bangles are look like a heart of woman’s desire. The poet says bangles which married women wears reflect the desire of their heart.
When a girl get married, she gets happy and sad at the same time. She gets happy because she is going to live with her husband in new house and sad because she is going to leave her old house where she grew up.
These two things show up clearly on the woman’s face. Here poet says these bangles are like their happiness and tears through which everyone can understand about them. The third stanza of poem talks about a choices of bride with bangles.
Some bangles are made up of gold and purple color which can wear with gold or Grey color bangles. The poet is talking about middle age women now whose hands have look after their home and their family. Whose love is like a blessing for her family. Who has raised her children with love and care and served her family faithfully. Who worship her god with her husband by her side.
The last stanza of poem talks about middle age woman’s life like how they have raised their children, how they have look after their family and how faithfully she has served her family. The poet says middle ages woman have different choices than maiden’s woman, they wears dark color bangles with shiny color.
The poem title is bangle seller though but this poem has beautifully described about the life of women. The first stage talks about a life maiden’s women, second stage talks about life bridal women and third talks about middle age woman’s life.
