Summary of Goodbye Party for Miss Pushpa T.S By Nissim Ezekiel

“Goodbye Party for Miss Pushpa” by T.S. T.S. is a humorous poem, and this is due to its author. The first reason is the author’s use of Indian English. Back when India was under British rule, Indians tried to speak English, but they couldn’t speak it fluently and made many grammatical errors.

The narrator of the poem is also very humorous, as he lacks public speaking skills and simply says whatever comes to his mind.

The poem begins with the author saying, “Our dear friend is leaving for a foreign country in two or three days. We are gathered here today to wish her a safe journey.”

From the first stanza, we can understand that the poet is giving a farewell speech to a woman who is leaving. Friends, you all know how sweet Miss Pushpa is and how kind she is to others.

The poet says that Miss Pushpa is not only sweet on the outside, but also on the inside because she is a kind person at heart and cares for people. Miss Pushpa keeps smiling, smiling, smiling, even for no reason, because she feels like it. The author is trying to say that Miss Pushpa is a happy person who always has a smile on her face.

Miss Pushpa comes from a wealthy, upper-class family. Her father was a famous lawyer in Bulsar or Surat. I just can’t remember the place, Bulsar or Surat.

I understand, he was in Surat. I only stayed in Surat once in my life with an old friend of my uncle’s family. His wife cooked a wonderful meal for me. The speaker then began sharing his experiences in Surat, forgetting that he was giving a farewell speech for Miss Pushpa.

Let’s return to Miss Pushpa; she is a very popular woman among both men and women. Simply put, Miss Pushpa is a very famous person because everyone knows her, whether men or women.

Whenever I asked her to do something, she would simply reply that she could do it right away. This reflects her good nature and kindness, and she is always ready to help people. I always admire her hard work and her great spirit.

Miss Pushpa never says no to anything. Whatever I or anyone else asks her to do, she is always available to help people. She always says yes, and never says no when it comes to helping people.

Today, she will further improve her temperament, and we wish her all the best on her new journey. She is leaving, so we are here to say goodbye and applaud her. Now, I request the other speakers to come forward to give a farewell speech about Miss Pushpa, and after that, she will deliver the closing remarks.
