Summary of The Coromandel Fishers By Sarojini Naidu

Coromandel is southern Coast of India. In poem, poet addresses the life of Fisherman who works very hard for fishing to make a living with it. The story of poem begins with poetess who is asking fisherman brothers to wake up, wake up as night has passed and sun rises and rising sun has bring some good news for us that the day would be better.

The cold wind which was blowing strong at night has fall asleep in the arms of rising day like a little child that cried all night. Come fisherman brothers, lets collect our nets from the shore and set our boat free. We have to go to capture fishes from sea as we are the king of the sea.

We should not waste more time, let’s go fast and follows Sea Gull’s call. Sea is like our mother and clouds are like our brother and waves are our partner.

When sun fall where will we go and where would we be, God Knows. It is all in sea God’s hand we will go wherever they will drive us. The poet is talking about that God who holds the storm in his hair, and if there would be any storm then it will hide us in his breast.

How sweet is the shade of Coconut trees, and the amazing scent of the Mango grove, and the beautiful light of the full moon touching sea sand. How sweet environment look when full moon’s light touches sea sand. And sweet sound of the air.

But sweeter than these things is, when the drop of ocean touches your face like it is kissing us. These drops are sweeter because it feeds us and help us in making a living. Come on brothers, lets take our boats to the edge of the verge where low sky meets the sea.
