Summary of The Tiger and the Deer By Sri Aurobindo

The poem’s tiger reflect death and evil while Deer reflect love and gratitude. As we know, Tiger and Deer are both different animals but still have one commonalty which is that they are beautiful animals. The Tiger is a hunter animal and its beauty is it’s power whereas Deer is mild and delicate animal whose mildness reflects it’s true beauty.

The poet says the cycle of life can be changed at any time, we all know that Tiger can hunt Deer easily but we may see Tiger go extinct in future while Deer will be there in forest.

The story of poem begins with poet who has personify forest in poem by naming it green heart of the forest. The green heart of forest means greenest and main part of the forest. The poet says there is one Brilliant thing in green heart of forest which is going ahead by crouching and slouching. As well as it has gleaming eyes, mighty chest and its feet are very soft and soundless. All these things reflects its greatness and murder.

The wind is also going softly through leaves because it is afraid if it go fast and make sound then she will disturb the splendour of tiger. Hardly able to breathe because they are afraid to make sound and scared from tiger.

The Tiger beast is crouched and going forward slowly by crouching. The Tiger is ready to hunt deer and murder it. Thereafter, suddenly death leap on beautiful Deer as it was drinking water from the river. That means tiger has attacked on Deer.

The wild deer was drinking water from big water pool in forest and had no idea that Tiger is waiting for him. The poor Deer was enjoying in shadow and drinking cold water from pool but now he is going to become a food of Tiger.

The Deer fall down and tiger has torn it into pieces. The Deer died remembering his beloved soulmate to whom he is never gonna see again. The Deer had no pain or anger that he is dying, he was just remembering his wife in love. The mild, soft and harmless beauty of forest is destroyed by strong and cruel beauty of nature.

A day like this may come when tiger will not hunt by crouching and this dangerous beauty may go extinct in future. One day, Tiger, a strong and cruel beauty of nature may go extinct.

As mammoth are extinct from the earth, so like them tiger may also go extinct. Still then the beautiful mild deer will drink water from the cold pool and enjoy in cool shadow of trees.

The strong and cruel beauty of nature may go extinct but this beautiful, mild and soft beauty will not go extinct. The mighty Tigers may go perish because of their dangerousness and cruelty but the slain will survive the slayer and their life will go on and on. The Life does not depend upon who has power, anyone can die at any time. This is called life.
