The poem is all about a conversation between author and weavers. The poet asks questions from weavers and they replies to her. The weavers are weaving three types of dress in three times of day. Every dress with each time represent a stages of human life.

The poet says weavers start weaving as soon as the morning comes. The poet asks weavers what kind of clothes they are weaving in morning ? The weavers replies that they are weaving a blue color clothe like a kingfisher bird.

The weaver says we are weaving a cloth for new born child. During night, the poet asks weavers, why they are weaving a cloth so bright at night ? The weavers replies that we are weaving a colorful clothe like a peacock. We are weaving this cloth for the marriage of princess.

This time weavers are weaving clothe in moonlight and they are very calm. The poetess asks, What are they weaving in moonlight ? The weavers replies that we are weaving a shroud of white as cloud color. In the last stanza, its a night time and weavers are weaving a white color shroud for a funeral of dead man.

If you look closely at the three stanzas of this poem, you are gonna learn that poet has describe the journey of life. In the first stanza of poem, the child was born and weavers weave cloth for him.

In the second stanza of poem, weavers weave cloth for a marriage of woman. In the last stanza of poem, weavers weave white color cloth for a dead man’s funeral. The poet has beautifully described the important stages of human life in his three stanzas.

ABOUT AUTHOR : Sarojini Naidu was called nightingale of India as her voice was very amazing and melodious. She was born in 13 February 1879 in Hyderabad. She was born during a time where women used to face lots a discrimination. The women also face discrimination in today’s time but not that much like 19th century.

The women had no right to educate or speak in 19th century as people used to believe that women should always stays in home. In spite having great differences, Sarojini Naidu completed her studies from Chennai and went to London for higher studies. Sarojini Naidu had great interest in education, she started writing since she was a child. Along with being a poet, Sarojini also participated in Indian National Movement. She was big follower of Mahatma Gandhi.
