Summary of Grandma Climbs a Tree By Ruskin Bond

The story of poem begins with writer who says, my grandmother was genius, you want to know why, because she can climb any tree no matter how big it is. My grandmother was capable enough to climb any tree in the world. Do you know, my grandmother climb a tree for last the last time was at the age of 62. Age was just a number for her. She had this gift of climbing trees was since her childhood. She loves to climb a tree rather than going in lift.

When grandmother was growing old, everyone tells her to stop climbing trees as she was getting old but she respond to them with smile that she will never stop climbing trees no matter how old she will grow. I can climb trees better than anyone else and you all have to agree with me. There was not a single tree left in garden which wasn’t climbed by my grandmother.

My grandmother learned all these things from her brother when she was six years old. But everyone of us feared that one day she may fall from tree. When we were in town, grandmother climbed a tree from where she could not come down.

Afterwards, she was rescued from that tree. Then came the Doctor who checked grandmother’s temperature and recommended her take bed rest for a week. We take some relief breathe and tucked her up well.

That season was like a hell for my grandmother as she was not able to go out and neither she was able to climb trees. Here comes summer season and everything was going well but grandmother was on bed rest. As grandmother starts recovering and felt stronger, she started saying that she can’t lie on bed anymore.

My grandmother called my father and told him that she can’t lie on bed anymore as it is like a hell for her. She told my father that she want a house on top of tree. My father ask her not to worry as he will take care of her wants and starts working on it from tonight.

My father built house soon with my help. We built house for her on a top of tree. And now she lives on a top of tree in her house. I climb that tree every day to meet my granny. She sits there with me and drink sherry with me. Her wishes are fulfilled and now she live happily in tree.
