The story of novel centers around a life of two main character, first one is 15 years old boy who is expert in stealing and lives with 25 years old boy named, Anil. Anil is described as 25 years old kind, simple and tall boy.
I was a successful thief at the age of 15. I remember when I met Anil I was a thief and he was watching wrestling match. Anil was looking like 25 years old tall and lean boy. I tried to make Anil friend by flattering him, I told him he also like like a wrestler, and Anil replied, you too. Anil asked my name, I told him Hari Singh because I change my name every month and does not tell my real name to anyone.
Anil was talking to me about wrestlers who were fighting in pitch, as I does not know much about wrestling so I kept myself quite. When Anil was going, I started following him, I told him I wants to work for him. Anil replied I can’t pay you for my work, I thought about one minute whether I chose right or wrong person for robbing. He ask me, can you cook me a food, I lied and said yes.
Anil bring me to his home and told me to sleep in balcony, I cooked food for him but it was so terrible that Anil gave it to his dog. Thereafter, Anil asked me to leave his home but I doesn’t go anywhere and gives smile to him.
Thereafter, Anil taught me how to cook food, he taught cooking, writing and told me that he will teach me about sentences and math as well. I was very grateful because I knew if I learn reading and writing then I would become more successful in stealing and fooling.
I started working for Anil happily, I used to cook food for him daily. One day, Anil returns with a bundle of money, he told me that he recently sold one book to publisher. At night I saw, Anil was hiding money under his pillow, its been a month I’m working for Anil. Today, I get the opportunity to steal money from Anil.
I have a opportunity to steal money and Anil also gave me a keys of door as he really trust me. It is really difficult for me to steal money from Anil as he is a good person. I told myself If I did not steal his money then he would waste it on his friends. He also does not pay me anything and I’m working for him since month. So I should not care about Anil and stole his money.
Anil was sleeping on his bed and I was in my bed, I stand and thought if I stole the money right now then I can easily catch Lucknow express train which comes at 10:30. I stand up from my bed and goes toward Anil who was sleeping quietly, I put my hands calmly under Anil’s pillow and started looking for money.
Finally, I got the money and started running from his home, I was running super fast. After some time, I lower my speed and started counting money, it was 600 rupees which was enough for me. Through 600 rupees I can live wealthy live for 1 or 2 weeks easily.
When I reached railway station, I does not go at ticket counter as I never purchased tickets for myself. Train was going and I was going to catch it but suddenly I stop, I don’t know why but I missed my train.
When train goes away, I was standing alone at railway station, I had no idea where I would spend my night. I had no friends because I believe friends gives more problems than solutions. I only know one person in the city and that is Anil, who trust me and to whom I trust.
I robbed many peoples in my life and knows their faces very well as they all looked like a greedy person. But Anil is different, he is nor greedy and selfish. I know what Anil would thought when he learns that I robbed his money.
Suddenly rain started and I got drenched in the rain. I goes towards at market and find one shelter to stay, I thought I will run today with this money but what about the education Anil gave me which I will never forget in my life. It is easy to stole money but it is very difficult to put it back to its place.
I should go back to Anil, not for anyone but for my education. I started running towards Anil’s room, I reached back home but I was very nervous. I silently opened Anil’s room door, Anil was still sleeping and I put his money back to his pillow very quietly.
The next day, I woke up very late and Anil already made tea, he give 50 rupees to me and said now I can pay you regularly. I took 50 rupees note from him and saw note was wet. Thereafter, he started teaching me as usual. I started smiling from my heart by looking at Anil’s face.
