SUMMER IN CALCUTTA BY KAMALA DAS SUMMARY

Summary of Summer in Calcutta By Kamala Das
The story of poem begins with poet who say the drink I am drinking is nothing but an April Sun juice. The April sun is squeezed like an orange in my glass. I take a little-little sip of this fire juice, I drink, drink and now I am drunk. Yes I’m drunk in sun golden light.
I am high because of the Sun golden light which is falling on my body. The sun golden light is flowing in my body veins. This drink has filled my mind with laughter and joy. The way drunk man laugh for no reason I am having the same feeling. My worries are gone now.
The bubbles are forming in the drink of my glass and they are looking like a bride nervous smile. By drinking this drink I am feeling like I kissed it. Dear Husband, please forgive me for this moments as I forget you by drinking sun drink and lost in my pleasure. This drink has make my memories blur and that is why maybe I forget you. As soon as I took a first sip of sun drink, my memories fades and I forget about you.
I am not blaming my drink because I forget you. Maybe I doesn’t have much devotion for you in my heart that is why I forgot about you just by an one sip of drink. When I pick this glass of juice in my hand, I drink, drink again this April sun juice.
