Summary of Songs of the Open Road By Walt Whitman
The story of poem begins with poet who is walking on open road with open mind. I’m very healthy, tension free and whole world is lying in front of me. The poet has started his life journey, and says If I choose right path then this road will take me to right path but If I choose wrong path then it will take me to the wrong path. So my life destination depends on me and my mindset and what path I choose.
From now on, I won’t ask for my better luck, I will change my destiny by myself with my hard work. I’m not dependent on my luck. I won’t cry for small things anymore, neither care about small things nor I will postpone my work. Whatever I have it is enough for me I don’t need anything.
I’m satisfied with whatever I have. I won’t give any excuses now, I will control my emotions and I don’t care about criticisms. I don’t care what people think or say about me, I will just walk on my path. I just care about my path nothing else.
I’m satisfied with whatever I have, I want nothing, I don’t care about the constellations anymore. I will write my destiny by myself and keep myself away from small minded thinking. I would keep myself from small thinking and small minded people.
I have chosen my path by myself though, and I have keep myself away from negativity, I’m away from negative people and living a tension free life. Still I carry my old memories burden on my shoulders. The burden which I’m holding on my shoulders have changed my life because I’m a better person because of my mistakes.
It doesn’t mean I don’t have any problems in life, problems were always with my and it will always be but problems are like those challenges which make us stronger and better person in life. Through problems we grow and become strong.
You may learn more through problems than your books. I carry my delicious burden wherever I go because my burdens has made me a better person. I swear I can’t get rid of my burdens as it is not possible because problems are the part of Human being life.
There is no such person in world who is living a burden free life. Whether you are rich or poor your burden will never leave you alone no matter what. Your burdens can only leave you when you leave the world. I won’t run away from my burden, no one should. I accept my problems as a challenge to grow in life.
